Why it won't be Obama-Nunn

Chris Crain and Wayne Besen both strongly oppose former Senator Sam Nunn (D-Ga) to be Barack Obama's running mate. As you recall, Nunn played a major role in scuttling President Bill Clinton's plan to lift the ban on gays in the military in 1993, and as a result we ended up with "Don't Ask, Don't Tell." In spite of the fact that gays universally detest Nunn for this, pundits repeatedly mention Nunn's name as a Veep possibililty because of his gravitas in military matters.
I think we can stop worrying that Obama will choose Nunn as his Veep. I bumped into Nunn last month and my first impression was, oh my God,he looks older than McCain. As it turns out Nunn will be 70 in September while McCain will be 72 in August. But if Nunn looks older than McCain, that is a problem.
A major subtext in this election is that McCain is too old to be Commander in Chief. I don't think Obama is going to throw away that advantage by choosing someone to be a heartbeat away from the presidency who looks older than his opponent whom many voters think is too old to be president.

Ohh Sam Nunn ---
I can still see the footage of Sammy Baby leading the press on a guided tour of the sleeping quarters on a nuclear submarine, relative, as it were, to the, shall we say, proximity of bunks: tighter than condom on a cucumber.
While the dialog was uttered in code, the disgraceful innuendo was that an openly-serving gay man would foment chaotic orgy --- since all straight men harbor powerful homosexual longings that would be cast aside in the passion - and that military discipline and, hence, freedom and democracy as we know it would be placed at risk.
While, as a gay man, my thoughts were diametric: wondering how many straight horny young studs wound up with their buddy's dick down their throat on any given muster.
Yes RIP Sammy - may you be relegated to the footnotes of congressional and military anals - as it were.
BTW Sammy - fashion tip - check out LensCrafters. I know you like those plastic-rimmed 1970s goggles, but an eyewear update might improve your cache. As to your comb-over, well I've seen better looking roadkill.
