    The Crist nuptuals

    Posted by: Kevin

Regarding the timely announcement that Florida Governor Charlie Crist (R) is getting married, Andrew Sullivan gets it right.  I, too, am a Crist fan on many issues (not on his waffling on the marriage amendment ballot measure).  I have no idea if he's gay or not, but I know what it's like to get married later in life than you thought you would.

And if it plays out as it seems it will, this will be an even more peculiar and fascinating race than its first act proved to be.

Waa Ha Ha --- nothing more transparent than an old Republican queen with his eye on the Veep prize. While I am nor a virulent Crist detractor, I certainly intend to vote for Jim Davis. (Yes I vote in Florida. Key West is my address of record.)

Seriously, who gives a shit? If the guy wants to marry for political reasons, who are we to judge?

Because I - for one - think for a gay man entering into a sham marriage for the purpose of gaining altitude in a national political party whose platform systemically denigrates the humanity of homosexual citizens - is about as low is at gets in terms of self esteem. You ARE right, it is his (and her) decision BUT I can sure have an opinion - and it is disgusting.

PS - you wait and see if they really get married. My money is if the veep spot goes to someone else - it will suddenly get called off. Wait and see.

Kevin, the word is spelled nuptials.

And I understand that this is the fifth time Crist has been "engaged" since his divorce. Could it be that announcements of "engagement" are politically motivated?

Yeah, isn't he in the same party that keeps trying to drive the "sanctity of marriage" down our throats? Honestly, if they'd get off that particular high horse, this absurd facade of christian morality, I wouldn't give a shit who they marry, divorce, remarry, whatever, whether they're doing it for political standing, money, or even hotter sex. But while that party line persists, and legislation (enacted or attempted) spews from that hypocritical sphincter, then I think it remains our business.

Whatever he is, he is still doing what he has to do.
