Rick Warren cancels interview
Posted by: Andoni
What's going on with Rick Warren? Yesterday , I wondered if he was changing his view on gay marriage, trying to rewrite history, or what.
Today, Warren was scheduled to be interviewed on This Week With George Stephanopoulos, but canceled just moments before the interview. It was a sure bet that Stephanopoulos would have asked him to clarify his position on gay marriage.
This is getting interesting.

What Tim C says, above, is correct. If you believe that Warren has changed his views on Prop 8, or that he would ever be an ally for GLBT equality, then, I'm afraid, you are hopelessly naive.

Whatever he says.....I don't trust him! This is typical of someone like that who is all mouth at first and then when they see it all slipping away from them, they change their tune. I never trust anyone who will "run with the hare and hunt with the hounds."

Where's Chris these days? If anyone should get in touch with him, I imagine he doesn't want this floating around on the internet...

Rick Warren is a dissembling sack of shit. More to the point he is a fucking liar of the first order. The only thing you can count on when it comes to Rick Warren is his unchecked narcissism. He's one more self-absorbed Baptist preacher who only likes publicity more than money. The fact that Obama is totally up his ass still pisses me off.
That's OK - Omaba ought to have learned from Jeremiah Wright that fucking preachers are totally in it for themselves. He'll learn the hard way

God, give the guy a break. If Chris needs an extended vacation, what's it to you? He'll come back when he feels like it.

Hey, it wouldn't bother me a bit if there was a pic floating around on the internet of me looking like Chris. It looks like he outweighs me by 20 or 25 lbs these days. I run too much.

This was discussed last night on Hardball with Chris Matthews. The consensus seemed to be that he's actually parsing words. He never said that he was opposed to same-gender marriage. He has said repeatedly that he supports the traditional definition of marriage. In saying that he was never a proponent of Prop 8, a spokesman for Saddleback Church said that at no time did Warren participate in the organized campaign in support of Prop 8, and that the only statements he made regarding Prop 8 were in response to questions from his congregation and were contained in a letter and a short video to his congregation where he reiterated his support for the traditional formulation of marriage. The talking heads on Hardball pointed out that the tactic of many of the "new" evangelicals is not to oppose, but to couch their positions in terms of support. They don't oppose same-gender marriage, they support the traditional definition of marriage. It's looking like there is much of nothing about this story.
